Hello Steve, There are several different variations on how to play solitaire — that is one version of how to play. I just would like to say.
I was taught playing. The pile of cards you flip over. You turn over the 3rd card. So every 3rd card is the card you flip over and go thru your pile as normal with cards as needed.
And when you get to the end. You flip the pile of cards over and just start again every 3rd card you flip over.
That is the way I was taught also. What is the answer. When transferring cards, can you move more than 1 card? Example: in one of the seven piles you have a series of cards face up 8, 7, 6, 5; can you transfer them over to a 9 face up.
If I go through the stocks, am I allowed to shuffle the discards and put them back in the stock pile? As for me — I play chess with my daughter, 13, and she is so good that she always wins nice girrrrrl…!
The only play I had was to move cards from the foundation pile onto the tableau until I could move the 2 of diamonds that was covering the ace of diamonds so I could turn it up and win the game.
May I move the one top card only from one tableau pile to another tableau pile in order to free the card under? Is this how it is played or no?
There are several different variations on how to play solitaire — that is one version of how to play. The stock pile should be used to add cards to the tableau to build the sequences and build up the foundation piles.

From the Rhineland, the Solitaire craze moved west into France. From the French we get many of the terms used in Solitaire.
A popular rumor is that while Napoleon was exiled, he spent most of his days playing Solitaire. In reality, he most likely played the common game of Whist.
Solitaire became increasingly popular throughout the 19 th century and moved evermore west into England with Prince Albert being a notable lover of the game.
Spider is a much more difficult version of traditional Solitaire. In Spider, there are two decks of cards in play, 10 Tableau piles, no Foundations piles, and no Talon pile.
The objective in Spider is to sequence 13 cards of the same suit in descending order King to Ace within a Tableau pile. When 13 cards are sequenced, the cards are removed.
If no moves can be made within the tableau piles, one card from the Stock piles is given to each Tableau pile. The game is won when there are no more cards.
Forty Thieves, or Napoleon at St. Helena, is similar to basic Solitaire but, it doubles the number of cards. There are 10 Tableau piles with initially 4 cards in each pile making up the forty thieves.
The cards that are left after setting up the Tableau are placed in the Stock, face down. The Waste and the Foundations start off empty.
To win Solitaire, you must get all the cards onto the Foundation piles. The Foundations are ordered by suit and rank, each Foundation has one suit and you must put the cards onto them in the order Ace 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jack Queen King.

Method 3 of Try playing Forty Thieves solitaire. This version is easier than normal solitaire because you can see the cards in each pile since they are all face up.
The object is still to make a stack for each suit in descending order. When laying out the cards, deal 10 rows of cards with four cards in each pile, all face up.
You can only move the top card of each row at a time. There are four spaces above the rows that can be used as holding cells. You can put the top card of one of the rows into a holding cell so that you can get at one of the cards below it.
Play the cards in the reserve deck at the same time, but you can only flip one over not three at a time. Try playing Freecell solitaire.
This is one of the hardest versions of solitaire. It challenges your skill and mental power more than regular solitaire does because there is no reserve deck to work with.
All of the cards should be face up. Do not use any cards for a reserve deck. All of the cards should be dealt out into the piles. Like Forty Thieves, there are four spaces placed above the rows that are used as reserve spaces.
You can only play the top card of each pile, but you can place the top card into one of the reserve spaces so that you can play a card beneath it.
Try playing Golf solitaire. This is a variation of solitaire where the object is to play all of the cards placed face up in the seven piles, rather than create four suit stacks.
Deal out seven piles with five cards in each. All of the other cards should be placed face down in the reserve deck. Flip over the top card of the reserve deck.
You will then try to play any of the face up cards from the seven piles on the card you have flipped from the reserve deck. When you cannot play any more cards, flip the next reserve deck card over and play any face up cards you can off of this new card.
Continue playing until you have either played all of the face up cards or you cannot make any more moves.
Try playing Pyramid solitaire. The object of the game is to remove all of the cards in the pyramid and reserve pile and place them in the discard pile by creating pairs that equal 13 in point value.
It should be stacked so that the rows are made of one card, then two cards, then three cards, etc. Each row should overlap the row above it.
Generally, Double Solitaire is understood as taking turns. This will become clearer below. Before you start the game, most games will present you with a menu that allows you to choose whether you want to draw 1 or 3 cards.
These instructions are about drawing 1 card because this is the option for beginners. The aim is to move all the playing cards from the tableau to the 4 foundations, arranged from Ace to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, all the way to King, sorted by suit, creating 4 separate stacks of spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts.
The Solitaire game has started and we will first focus on the tableau. As we already know, we have to try to move all the cards to the foundation, where each stack has to start with an Ace.
